Job Summary
The Peer Recovery Coach provides individual and group-based mentorship and support to individuals recovering from mental health and substance use disorders at the Henderson Detention Center and our Henderson office location. This role assesses the needs of each individual, works to identify barriers and goals in recovery, develops recovery plans, and connects individuals to appropriate social services and resources. The Peer Recovery Coach has extensive documentation experience; accurately charting services and peer progress. You will work alongside other members of our Recovery Support Service team to run the daily operations of the Henderson Office, provide support to our members and to individuals incarcerated at the Henderson Detention Center, supervise and lead daily activities and programming, and provide general clerical support. This position requires completion of a Peer Recovery Support Specialist training, approved by the Nevada Certification Board. Applicants must hold a PRSS-I or CPRSS credential through the Nevada Certification Board.

General Accountabilities
  • Manage incoming requests and inbound referrals, including calls, emails, pre-enrollment submissions, and walk-ins.
  • Completes various assessments, surveys, interviews, and other data collection methods to track outcomes of members for grantors, management, and community partners.
  • Educate participants about peer recovery support and programs available at the Foundation, other treatment and recovery options, overdose prevention tools and strategies, and local resources.
  • Manages front desk and flow of participants between workers
  • Data entry and recording in case management system
  • Coordinate ancillary services for members such as: transportation assistance, vocational training, stable and secure living environments, and other recovery support services, as identified by members
  • Be the key to health activation by listening to the needs, fears, and goals of our members and educating members on how to access and engage in the health system
  • Facilitate whole health and recovery support groups, maintaining fidelity of the curriculum and program
  • Support members with identifying whole health and recovery goals and developing plans to achieve those goals
  • Support members with the planning of their recovery program, and provide motivation to assist members with completion of the program
  • Provide individualized support, empowerment, and encouragement to members through coaching and everyday interactions
  • Offer recovery management strategies and tools; like journaling, breathing and mindfulness techniques, among others
  • Offer overdose prevention strategies and tools; like Narcan and fentanyl test strips
  • Listen to members' barriers; offering assistance to remove barriers through linkages to resources and other programs at Foundation for Recovery - or just to listen and provide understanding and empathy
  • Share and model personal resilience and recovery experiences, when appropriate, acting as a role model for members
  • Provide regular communication to members through phone, text, and in-person follow-ups and check-ins
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation using the organization's case management software
  • Complete all necessary data collection, reporting, and documentation related to the program requirements
  • Prepare program, grant, and caseload reports as needed
  • Understand and adhere to all state and federal confidentiality laws and regulations
  • Ability to become certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist upon hire through Nevada Certification Board Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Education: Completion of a Peer Support Specialist Training approved by the Nevada Certification Board
  • 2 years of prior experience with standard office practices and procedures, including office etiquette, records management and use of case management or electronic health record system, and using computer programs such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • 2 years of customer service experience 2 years of experience working with people with behavioral health disorders and individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds 1-2 years of experience using electronic health records or case management database
  • 2 years experience answering phones, responding to emails, completing forms, using office equipment like printers and scanners.
  • Must understand and adhere to the Nevada Certification Board's code of ethics for Peer Recovery Support Specialists, federal and state confidentiality laws and regulations, and Nevada mandatory reporting laws and regulations

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist by the Nevada Certification Board
  • 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and
    experience
  • Continuing education or training in criminal justice systems, trauma-informed care, peer
    support ethics, confidentiality, motivational interviewing, suicide prevention,
    mandatory reporting, or others.
  • Prior experience facilitating support groups, group activities, trainings, and/or
    workshops.
  • Prior experience working in an office-based setting, non-profit, or communitybased organization.
  • Prior experience working with state and federal grants.

Work Environment
Our employees work in a supportive and collaborative office environment. This position is full-time and based in Henderson at Foundation for Recovery’s satellite office but weekly travel will be required for outreach and support to individuals at the Henderson Detention Center. Foundation for Recovery will provide all the tools necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Physical Demands
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Job Details and Salary
  • Full-time hourly, non-exempt employee
  • Fringe benefits, including health, vision, and dental insurance available after 90 days of employment.
  • Salary Range: $19 - $22 per hour commensurate with experience
  • Three weeks of PTO accrued annually
